What is MBSR?
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a scientifically backed program designed to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and chronic pain through mindfulness practices. Developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR combines mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and gentle yoga to cultivate a greater sense of presence and resilience. It’s not about eliminating stress and pain but learning to relate to it differently and shifting our relationships with them.
